ESV Online Study Bible available for free during March!

The ESV Study Bible, IMHO, is the best Study Bible this side of Jupiter. The resources within this Study Bible is absolutely amazing! That is why the ESVSB has over 2700 pages! I have written a couple posts on the ESVSB too.

What is even more amazing is that when you buy the ESVSB, you get access to everything in the ESVSB online! And, what an amazing resource that is!

And now, for the whole month of March, those who have not bought the ESVSB (yet), can have access to this amazing resource! You will be able to see everything in the ESVSB and have it available for March.

So, make use of this facility and see why you should not waste time in purchasing your own copy of the ESVSB!

I finally have my own ESV Study Bible

From the first announcement that the ESV would be released in a study Bible (English Standard Version Study Bible - ESVSB) format, I was very excited!

It was my birthday on Sunday, Jan 11, and I received money from the family and work, and was able to go buy it this morning. Unfortunately, I had to pop out from work to pick it up, and so, being at work I have to wait till tonight to actually open it and start using it. It was quite providential that my wife had a "20% off" coupon for the store that I bought the Bible from. So, instead of paying R1,000 ($100) I only paid R800 ($80).

The format I bought is the one in the graphic on the left here. It is the Trutone® Classic Black.

It is a study Bible with 2,752 pages. It is extremely rich with features that are really useful. Further, the contributor's list is like a "who's who" in the evangelical world with many of them known as Reformed believers.

This study Bible has been in such high demand that the creators of the ESVSB, Crossway, is out of stock currently.

If you can afford the ESVSB, do yourself a favour and get one!

Zondervan author disses ESV

Whether it is so or not, I wouldn't know, but it seems that Zondervan, via Mark Strauss (PhD), an author of Zondervan, dissed the ESV translation.

Is this sour grapes from the NIV crowd at the amazing growth of the ESV? Perhaps I am seeing it all wrong.

However, I am with the ESV crowd!

BTW, I have been waiting for the ESVSB (ESV Study Bible) to arrive in South Africa, and now that it has, I realise that I can't afford it. When I buy a Bible, I buy the bonded leather edition, because the leather edition is beyond my budget. I don't buy the hardcover, since I have found that hardcover editions fall apart after a while.

Anyhow, prices of the bonded leather edition range from around R900 ($87) to about R1099 ($108). This is just too pricey for me. So, for now, I will have to sit out on the ESVSB.

Of course, if there is anyone out there that would be willing to bless me with the ESVSB, it will be greatly appreciated.

Lawsuit against ESV Study Bible project manager

Without further a-do, read about the lawsuit here.

Serious stuff, huh!

Here in South Africa I have to wait until November!

Philip Ryken comments on the ESV Study Bible

Philip Ryken has written a blog article about the upcoming ESV Study Bible.
"Although I have not participated in this project, I have watched it unfold with great interest and anticipation. From what I have seen so far, I believe it will be the world's best complete single-volume resource for reading, studying, and teaching the Bible."

You can read Philip's complete article here.

ESV Study Bible!

The ESV Study Bible now has its own website!

From what I have read about it at the website, it seems that this will probably be the best study Bible on the market! Looking at the editors and contributors already sets the ESV Study Bible above the rest. Some names of note are: Wayne Grudem, J.I. Packer, Justin Taylor, Andreas J. Köstenberger, Vern Poythress, Leland Ryken, David Powlison, John Piper, Kent Hughes, Mark Dever, Daniel B. Wallace, David Alan Black, Bruce Ware and others.

Here are some endorsements for the ESV Study Bible:
"'Outstanding! The ESV Study Bible is a treasure—a beautiful volume, filled with a wealth of resources. It will be just as useful for the seminarian and long-time pastor as it will be accessible to the brand-new Christian.'
R. Albert Mohler Jr., President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"

"'Like the ESV itself, this Study Bible sets a new standard in excellence. The craftsmanship invested in every page—from the insightful articles and informative notes to the crisp design and gorgeous illustrations—makes it an invaluable tool for students of God’s Word. As a pastor it’s my goal to get one into the hands of every member of my church.'
Joshua Harris, Senior Pastor, Covenant Life Church"

"'The definitive clarity and beauty of the ESV Study Bible is extraordinary. In a world where words are distorted to mean anything, it is wonderful to have complete confidence in the reliability and truth of the Bible—so clearly and persuasively demonstrated by this world-class team of Bible scholars and teachers. For everyone who wants to understand God’s word in a deeper way, the ESV Study Bible is an outstanding resource. I will be an avid user!'
Joni Eareckson Tada, Founder of the JAF International Disability Center"

As for me, I will definitely get myself the ESV Study Bible.

However, there is a downside to the ESV Study Bible... it will only be available October 2008!!

Update
21 April 2008 - For those living in South Africa, you can pre-order your new ESV Study Bible from Kalahari.net! Also, check out all the blogs that have written about the new ESV Study Bible! I am number 81. I am famous!
Of course, if Crossway would find it in their generous hearts to give me a free copy (leather bound of course), I would write them a proper review of the ESVSB! Let's pray!
